Hey there Sunshine!

I'm Jess, the heart and hands behind Velveteen Sunshine.

I live on the Gold Coast with my husband, our two wonderful kids, two fluffy sidekicks, and a growing collection of beads, plants, seashells and creative ideas. I'm happiest surrounded by colour, nostalgia, horror movies and anything that sparks a little joy.

Funny enough, Velveteen Sunshine was never part of some grand business plan.

It started with a bracelet-making afternoon with my daughter.

She finished.

I didn't.

What began as a simple craft project quickly turned into an obsession with creating colourful, whimsical jewellery that felt more me than anything I could find in the shops. For almost two years, it stayed as a hobby while I quietly dreamed about turning it into something bigger.

When I finally took the leap, I thought I was building a jewellery brand.

Looking back, I was building something much more personal.

Velveteen Sunshine helped me reconnect with parts of myself I'd slowly lost along the way. The playful part. The colourful part. The part that chose things simply because they made me smile.

That's what this little brand has become.

A reminder that joy doesn't have to wait for special occasions.

That colourful things aren't just for kids.

That the good jewellery deserves to be worn on ordinary Tuesdays.

Every piece is still handmade by me, one bead at a time, with the hope that when you put it on, it reminds you to embrace the parts of yourself that make you wonderfully unique.
